(416) 483-0000How much do dental implants cost?
A single tooth implant in Toronto typically ranges from $3,000-6,000 all-in (implant + abutment + crown). All-on-4 full-arch ranges from $25,000-40,000 per arch depending on materials and complexity. We provide a written estimate at your 3D Planning Visit. CDCP covers some implant procedures for eligible patients. Most extended health plans cover a portion. We offer payment plans.
How long does the implant process take?
Typically 3-6 months from start to finish. Step 1: Consult + CBCT (1-2 weeks). Step 2: Implant placement (~1 hour per implant). Step 3: Healing (3-6 months for the implant to integrate with bone). Step 4: Abutment placement + impression (1-2 visits). Step 5: Final crown delivery. For All-on-4: a temporary fixed bridge is placed the same day as surgery (where clinically applicable); the final prosthesis is delivered 3-6 months later.
Is implant surgery painful?
Most patients report less pain than they expected — significantly less than tooth extraction. We use local anesthesia routinely, plus your choice of sedation (where authorized). Post-op pain is usually managed with over-the-counter ibuprofen for 2-3 days.
What's CDCP and does it cover implants?
The Canada Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a federal program for uninsured Canadians earning under $90K. Basic restorative procedures may be covered for eligible patients with specific medical necessity. We bill CDCP directly. Visit /insurance/cdcp to check your eligibility.
Will my insurance cover implants?
Most extended health insurance plans cover a portion of implant costs up to your annual or lifetime maximum. Some plans require pre-authorization. We submit pre-treatment estimates at no cost to confirm exact coverage before you commit.
What if I don't have enough bone for an implant?
We perform bone grafting and sinus lifts in-house. The graft material integrates with your existing bone over 3-6 months, after which we can place the implant. This adds a step to the timeline but means we don't refer you out for routine cases.
What sedation is right for an implant?
Single implant: most patients are comfortable with local anesthesia only, or nitrous oxide if mildly anxious. Multiple implants or All-on-4: most patients choose IV sedation. For very anxious patients or medical complexity, general anesthesia is available (where authorized). We help you decide at your consultation.
How long do implants last?
With good oral hygiene and regular check-ups, dental implants are well-documented to have high long-term survival rates. Most well-cared-for implants last many years; many last a lifetime. The crown on top of the implant may need replacement after 15-20 years. Outcomes depend on individual factors — your dentist will discuss expected longevity during your consultation.
What's All-on-4?
All-on-4 is a same-day full-arch restoration using four strategically placed implants to support a fixed bridge. You walk in with missing or failing teeth and (in suitable cases) leave the same day with a temporary fixed bridge. After 3-6 months of healing, the final permanent bridge is placed. Suitability depends on the clinical case — your dentist will discuss whether you're a candidate.
Can I see what my implant will look like before I commit?
Yes. At your 3D Planning Visit, we use CBCT imaging + digital impressions + smile design software to show you a visualization of your final result before surgery.
